Digi & iPhone

Port-in from Maxis to Digi effective within 24 hours... very fast. However, went back to Digi Centre SS2 today to complete the registration and collection for the iPhone but only was told system down! Do do nothing and waste a trip (time & money).

What a bad luck... How come it is so difficult for us just to buy something?

Port to Digi for iPhone

Went to Digi Centre at SS2 Petaling Jaya this afternoon to port from Maxis to Digi for the iPhone.

Digi's iPhone plan more worthwhile (for me) as I had "kena" twice by Maxis for usage over the internet quota, which can be very "shocking" because Maxis charge RM0.10 per 10KB of data usage!!!

Back to Digi Centre, some people have waited for 4 hours + just to collect the iPhone after the port-in successful. I am lucky because someone give me another queue number that potentially shorten my total waiting time from 3 hours or more to 2 hours.

Very disappointed with Digi's way to handle the overwhelming demand... not efficient at all. Too bad, have to go back there again to collect Digi

Emm.... I want to buy this - Samsung Galaxy Tab

After seven months of unchallenged prominence, Apple's hot-selling iPad now has its first credible competitor in the nascent market for multitouch consumer tablet computers: the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Priced at RM1,849 with only 12 months contract with Maxis (Voice+Data) - it is a very attractive offer.

GALAXY Tab is packed with features and enriched content experience from its Android™ OS v2.2 (Froyo).
  • 16GB
  • 1Ghz Hummingbird chip from the Galaxy S
  • 7" TFT-LCD
  • 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth® 3.0
  • Access to Android™ Marketplace
    & Google Mobile Services
  • Rear facing 3MP camera (with LED flash)
    & 1.3MP front-facing camera

Number of civil servants in Malaysia is AMAZING....

With 1.3 million civil servants to a population of 26 million, Malaysia has one of the highest civil servants-to-population ratio in the world by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development standards.
· In 2009, Malaysia’s civil servants-to-population ratio was highest in Asia Pacific. Her ratio was 4.68%, compared to Indonesia’s 1.79%, Korea’s 1.85% and Thailand’s 2.06% all of which have less than half our ratio.
· In 2009, Singapore had a total of 60,000 civil servants, i.e., 1.5% of the total population. Hong Kong had 160,000 out of a population of 7 million (2.3%). Taiwan (population of 23 million) was served by only 528,000 (2.3%).
Whilst it is the growing trend of many countries to reduce their civil service, Malaysia, the PM’s Department in particular, has done the opposite. It more than doubled its number of civil servants from 21,000 to 43,554 this year. In stark contrast, the White House employs only 1,888 staff.

· The White House’s budget is US$394 million for 2011. The PM’s Department has been allocated a whopping RM18.14 billion for the year 2011, almost double the RM10.2 billion this year.

How come Malaysia is so rich to spend so much money in our PM's Department when compare to The White House?

There are no best mortgage insurance.

Why would I say so?

There are no such thing as best because it depends on your unique financial position. Ahmad may choose MRTA and Ali may be better off with MLTA even though they bought a house at the same time.

Suppose you are single and have no dependent, but engage with a pretty potential-life-partner, would you consider taking MRTA when you purchase a house now? What determines the decision?

Most of the time a borrower taking up MLTA/MRTA is when bank force them. However, it may not be the bank policy but the banker's policy. It may be with good intention of the banker to introduce the borrower the concept of mortgage protection (aka. debt cancellation program) but the borrower shall have better understanding whether MLTA or MRTA or no protection or reduced protection or reduced period if he/she equips with knowledge in personal finance and financial planning.

What happens to Malaysia over last 40 years? 1968 to 2008

The following chart generated from Google Public Data.

I select the GDP per capita in US$ as a very common and standard benchmark to evaluate the financial health of an average man of a country.

Why I buy iPhone 4 from Digi?

iPhone 4 - Maxis vs. Digi

The main reason for me to buy from Digi is .....

I hate to use maxis for mobile internet because they charge by KB for usage after the pre-determined quota. Example if your sign up for 500MB and use up to 550MB, you will have "shock" because for 50MB extra Maxis will charge you RM250 - surprise!! 500Mb cost you only RM48 (under promotion package) but the extra RM50 will cost you RM250 (50MB / 10KB * 0.05 per 10KB).

p/s: 1MB = 1,024 KB or 102.4 x 10KB
