Middle Class - how are you?

Middle class problem in modern economy.

After reading the interview from people in the so-called "middle class", sincerely I do feel that in Malaysia, earning a household income of above RM3,000 (gross income) is not considered as "middle class" but merely in the middle of Low-Income group and Medium-Income group.

Never mind the classification, it is no longer good to be in the middle class, USA has the biggest middle income group and now is suffering from higher effective tax rate and lower income prospect.

Work harder can only ensure survival, as the increase of cost of living is outrun the increase of salary, we need to work smarter as well as harder in order to enjoy a better life. Well, for me, work smarter include looking for extra source of income at lowest possible cost (i.e. required number of hours).

I love Coffee but not the Sugar

Can you imagine that you have put into your body 1 kg of sugar within next 47 days if you just drink 1 cup of SUPER 3 in 1 White Coffee a day?

One pack (serving size of 40g) contains 21g of sugar.... not to mention the FAT of another 5.2g. No wonder I have gain some weight after drinking for this type of "package coffee".

"Brain drain" vs "Brain from the drain"

Interesting statistic from World Bank.

If Malaysia has 27 million population, then it is about 3.7% was "drained away". If out of 27 million population,  14 million are aged between 21 to 55, then it is about 7.1% was "drained away". Interestingly, most of the "drained away" were Chinese.

What left in the system mainly are the "brain from the drain" - read here.

Bye bye to Maxis

Contract with Maxis will be ended on 11 July 2011. So on 12 July 2011, I can port my numbers to other telcos.

Why I want to terminate?

It is a sad story. As Maxis user over last 2 years, I have been charged for 3rd time for the usage of data over the monthly quota, this time RM250 and Maxis holds a strong position to charge me. Maxis is right, legally. So, what is next for me? The only way is OUT.

Going to Digi because no such thing as "charges for usage of data over the monthly quota". As a user, I will have no worry on the usage and can use the data freely without thinking and calculating the usage.

What went wrong with Malaysia? Life Gets Harder in Malaysia

Malaysia’s economy has indeed been growing at 6%-8% a year for most of the past two decades. But GDP growth figures do not translate into general economic wellbeing as the disparity in income between the haves and the have-nots has moved steadily wider.
By Kenny Gan

A long article but with detailed elaboration of the problem facing by common man and women in Malaysia. You just have to read it.

Who are the victims of insurance fraud?

Many will think that there are no victim or the victim is insurance company but the answer is YOU.

Fingers have been chopped off, medical ailments exaggerated and even death faked – all for the purpose of fraudulent insurance claims. The problem is widespread and insurance companies have lost hundred of millions of ringgit, forcing them to push up premium rates and pass on the cost to other consumers.

Therefore, You - the Consumer, will have to bear the cost of Fraud.

Digi & iPhone

Port-in from Maxis to Digi effective within 24 hours... very fast. However, went back to Digi Centre SS2 today to complete the registration and collection for the iPhone but only was told system down! Do do nothing and waste a trip (time & money).

What a bad luck... How come it is so difficult for us just to buy something?

Port to Digi for iPhone

Went to Digi Centre at SS2 Petaling Jaya this afternoon to port from Maxis to Digi for the iPhone.

Digi's iPhone plan more worthwhile (for me) as I had "kena" twice by Maxis for usage over the internet quota, which can be very "shocking" because Maxis charge RM0.10 per 10KB of data usage!!!

Back to Digi Centre, some people have waited for 4 hours + just to collect the iPhone after the port-in successful. I am lucky because someone give me another queue number that potentially shorten my total waiting time from 3 hours or more to 2 hours.

Very disappointed with Digi's way to handle the overwhelming demand... not efficient at all. Too bad, have to go back there again to collect Digi
